Pilothouse Overhead Panels

Summary
(please click on any of the pictures for a larger one - use the BACK button to come back)

I had cut up a lot of the existing fiberglass overhead panel to do a better job of backing much of the deck hardware. I needed a way to put up an overhead that could be removed for deck hardware maintenance.

I used some beadboard paneling that was very thin, like 5/32" or so. I sealed both sides with epoxy and then sanded and painted (several times) with Brightsides.

I did it in three sections so that things could be easily removed for under-deck access.

The teak strips both cover and hold up the edges.

Here is a picture of the aft corner.

I put a teak "header" all the way around so that I can put roll-up windowcovers up underneath.

This is an idiotic move I made to trim out the underside of the sliding hatch -25 strips of teak and 50 bungs! STUPID!!

Lessons Learned

Just because you think something might look "cool" doesn't make it worth your time at the end of a 2 year project.
