This is the construction and ideas page for the settees portion of the boat. This page will be continuously updated with progress pictures as thing progress.

This was the starting point on the starboard side.

....and the port side. This is really just a small seat area in front of the galley.

As in the vberth, I cut out new access hatches for the storage areas below the starboard side settee.

In one of the new access hatch areas, I glassed in an epoxy-saturated battery box. This will house two (approximately) Group 27 batteries for the house system.

A separate, dedicated starting battery will be located at the very aft end under this settee next to the engine. Another smaller battery box is built and installed there.

Here is the starboard side all painted.

Woodwork is finally complete on the short, portside settee.

There are shelves behind the back using the space under the side decks. Some removable panels allow access (in this case) to the air conditioner thru-hull.

The back can be completely removed for easier access when work behind the many panels is required. The back tilts on the rails on at the bottom, and is locked in place by a strip on it's back that locks in under the shelf.

Storage and more access panels underneat the settee seat. The black box in the corner is the bus heater that uses engine coolant bypass heat.

Here is a closeup of the heater output box and the controls (underneath). The cabin sole is not down yet (obviously).

Here are a few pictures of the finished settees with the new cushions.

Lessons Learned

Make sure you have workable access to ALL areas of the boat.
