This is my take on a tilt out bin I saw in a magazine. I had a tall space next to the galley cabinet that I wanted to use for a trash bin. It was a very narrow, but tall area.
The bin needed to be able to tilt out, and also be removed for access behind.
This is the table picture, but it is the only one I had ready that showed the closed trash bin. It is the tall skinny panel on the far right next to the mast compression post.

Here it is tilted out. There is a heavy-duty bungee cord with a ball end (blue) that slips into a keyhole slot at the back of the bin. This provides enough tension to hold it shut. If you consider the design (kudos to the magazine article author), any weight in the bin will also automatically help keep it closed.
There is a false-rim at the very front edge behind the face that a big ol' rubber band goes around to hold the trash bag in so it doesn't sticking out anywhere when closed. There is a flange on the back also to hold the rubber band. |
The hard part was figuring out how to both make it hinge at the bottom AND be removable.
Here it is removed. You can see a slice in the front panel and the hinges near the bottom. The two "feet" sticking down go behind the bulkhead at the bottom.
You just tilt the bin out and lift it up to remove.

Here is a close-up of the hinge arrangement. The thickness between the front panel and the "feet" had to be pretty exact. Too tight slipping on the bulkhead and it would be very difficult to remove. Too loose, and it would be banging and sloppy.

This is why I needed the bin to be removable. Straight behind is the air conditioner electrical stuff.
You can see the blue-ended bungee cord that slips into the back of the bin.

And back and to the left is the galley sink and some plumbing.
The adjacent cabinet is also removable for access to the galley parts. |

Never underestimate the advantage of a clean engine compartment.
